Pinellas Education Foundation names Jim Myers its Chairman

The Pinellas Education Foundation is proud to announce that Jim Myers, President & Chief Operating Officer of the Crown Automotive Group, has been appointed Chairman of the Pinellas Education Foundation for a two-year term as of July 1, 2012.

A native of Pinellas County, Myers graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1977 and was inducted into the Boca Ciega High School Athletic Hall of Fame for Basketball and Baseball in 2006. After high school, he attended St. Petersburg College and after obtaining an Associate in Arts Degree went to Georgia College and State University where he majored in accounting and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. As President and COO of the Crown Automotive Group, he is responsible for directing all phases of operations for Crown’s 17 Dealerships and 35 franchises in Pinellas County, Tallahassee, Fla., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Columbus, Ohio. Responsibilities also include franchise and real estate acquisitions and manufacturer relations. Previously, Myers was a board member of the Pinellas Association for Retarded Children and was on their Finance Committee from 1996-2002. He also served on the St. Petersburg College Business Advisory Committee from 1990-2006 where he served as Chairman in ‘95-’96. Myers is currently a Florida Automotive Dealers Association Legislative Committee member.

He has been a member of the Pinellas Education Foundation’s Board of Directors since 2004. He has served as Chairman of the Foundation’s Stavros Committee and was Vice Chairman of the board in 2010-2012.

Myers replaces Craig Sher, President of the Sembler Co., who will remain on the Board of Directors. During Sher’s two-year term as Chairman, projects like the Academies of Pinellas, Savings for Classrooms and Parents for Pinellas Students (P4PS) were initiated.
