Pinellas Sheriff's patrols targeting drunk drivers through New Year's

in Uncategorized by

If it seems like there are more Pinellas County deputies on the road this weekend, you’re not imagining it.

Sheriff’s deputies will beef up patrols and keep a high profile through Jan. 1 with the goal of cracking down on drunk driving.

Deputies will target impaired and reckless driving.

“Deputies encourage citizens to designate a driver before they head out, or call a cab. Staying away from behind the wheel after drinking saves lives,” according to a written statement.

In addition, in a continuing effort to reduce DUI related injuries and educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving year-round, the Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct DUI Checkpoints and Wolf Pack patrols
throughout the new year.
