A 2006 elections case has landed Doug Guetzloe, a political consultant and one of the founders of Florida’s official Tea Party, in jail, according to the Orlando Sentinel via The News Service of Florida. The paper reported that court records show Circuit Judge C. Jeffery Arnold sent Guetzloe to jail Wednesday to start a 60-day sentence decided after he pleaded no contest to 14 counts connected to a mailer he sent during a 2006 local election. Thirteen of those counts were later dismissed on appeal. Attorney Fred O’Neal, a former chairman of the Tea Party, said Guetzloe is expected to participate in a work-release program.
