Florida Republicans supportive of Marco Rubio’s Senate campaign are questioning Gov. Charlie Crist’s claim that he was unaware of an alleged scheme to skim money from the Republican Party of Florida, which led to the arrest and indictment of former Crist adviser Jim Greer last week.
Greer, who served as chairman of the Florida GOP, was charged with directing more than $125,000 to a political consulting firm, Victory Strategies, that he and his associates set up, and Greer’s lawyer has said that Crist approved the setup. The governor, who is running for Senate as an independent, has rejected that charge.
But Republicans in the state are suspicious of Crist’s denials, and emphasize just how connected the governor and his political adviser were. Continue reading here.
