Politics in Pinellas forum on Tuesday, registration still open

Some folks may look down on local politics, many more believe it is the true heart of American democracy. These are the people who thrive on the excitement of participating in the electoral process, beyond simply casting an occasional ballot.

For those people, registration is closing soon for the upcoming Politics in Pinellas forum on Tuesday evening.

Everyone is invited, particularly residents who want to learn more about those who will be representing them come Nov. 4.

Sponsored by the Clearwater Regional and St. Petersburg Area Chambers of Commerce, Politics in Pinellas offers voters an opportunity to join the conversation, discuss issues, meet with candidates and supporters.

The forum runs from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 3535 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater. Along with food and refreshments, activities include a straw poll and more than a bit of politicking.

Expected to attend are candidates at the state and local level.

In addition, the representatives of the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections will be on hand to educate the public and conduct a straw poll for all contested races.

Registration and more information are available online at StPete.com; tickets are $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
