Pro-Lens committee sends first mailer in campaign to ‘Build the Pier’

Citizens for the St. Pete Pier, a political action committee formed by a group of young professionals, has sent its first mailer as part of its campaign to ‘Build the Pier.’

The 6″ x 9″ postcard arrived in city mailboxes on Monday, one day ahead of when the Pinellas County Supervisor of Election will mail more than 61,000 ballots to early voters.

“St. Pete is on the rise,” reads the headline on the front of the postcard. “DON’T STOP THE PROGRESS.”

The front of the mailer features one of architect Michael Maltzan’s renderings of what “The Lens” will look like if constructed.

On the reverse side, the postcard offers four “facts” about the benefits of the “new pier,” including arguments that there will be “no new taxes” and “lots to do.”

On an inside-baseball note, the indicia on the mailer says it was sent from Miami, leading me to believe that the piece was not designed or produced by a local consultant.
