The Florida Recycling Partnership named Public Affairs Consultants head Keyna Cory as their new Executive Director.
In a statement Monday, FRP announced Cory would lead the group in the effort to promote recycling and sustainability in the Sunshine State.
The FRP is an alliance of businesses focusing on developing and adopting sustainable practices. The company not only promotes recycling, but also ways to reduce and reuse resources.
“I am honored to work with such a dedicated group of businesses who are trying to increase Florida’s recycling rate,” Cory said. “Thru education and public awareness we believe more companies will recycle appropriate materials as well as work on sustainability programs to reduce and reuse our natural resources.”
The next FRP project is “Florida Recycles Day,” scheduled for Tallahassee on Tuesday, November 5 at the Third Floor Rotunda of the Capitol. The event will feature displays to help educate both the legislature and the public about the status of the recycling industry around the state.
The goal is to encourage Floridians to take an active role in protecting natural resources, create opportunities for recycling and increase the use of recycled materials, which will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
For more than 20 years, Cory has worked with solid waste and recycling issues, and was involved with coalitions such as Save Our Waterfronts and the Florida Water Alliance. In addition to her new role at FRP, she will continue as President of Public Affairs Consultants, which provides governmental consulting, lobbying and grass roots coordination.
