After winning Florida House seats only two weeks earlier, state Reps. Ray Pilon and Bob Cortes have filed paperwork for re-election in 2016, according to the Division of Elections. Pilon, the Sarasota Republican first elected to the House in 2010, defeated Democrat Greg Para in District 72.
Cortes, the Altamont Springs Republican who unseated incumbent Democrat Karen Castor Dentel, has opened an account for District 30, which covers Orange and Seminole counties.
Once a candidate files paperwork, they can begin raising money for the campaign.
