Rays celebrate May the Fourth with Star Wars Day ticket promotion, giveaway

Everyone loves a good promotion, and just as many love Star Wars.

Major League Baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays are no different.

To honor May 4, the Rays are advertising one-day-only half-price ticket prices as well as a Star Wars-related giveaway.

For those living in a galaxy far away, May 4 has become popularly known as “Star Wars Day.”

As in “May the Fourth be with you.”

The promotion — a partnership between Lucasfilm and MLB — has the team’s website decked out in a Star Wars theme, welcoming visitors to the “Rays Landing Bay.” They are also offering a bobblehead giveaway of star pitcher Chris Archer, dressed in the iconic Imperial Stormtrooper outfit.

In addition, Saturday, June 11 has been designated as Star Wars Day at Tropicana Field — with a 4:10 p.m. game against the Houston Astros that is “approaching faster than a Star destroyer chasing the Millennium falcon.”

The team is offering $12 lower corner tickets for the “galactic battle.” That’s half the regular price. This special promotion is available only on May 4, with tickets expected to “be gone in less than 12 Parsecs.”

More information, and to buy tickets, is available at m.mlb.com/rays.
