Rays unveil new Sunday alternate jerseys

The Rays will wear a new light blue alternate jersey for Sunday home games during the 2010 season. Officially released Wednesday morning, it will debut on April 11, when the Yankees visit Tropicana Field.

Starting Wednesday, fans may order the Rays’ new alternate jersey via raysbaseball.com and raysbeisbol.com, at the Rays Pro Shop and Ticket Outlet located at 400 N. Tampa Street, the Rays Team Store at Tropicana Field and at Champs Sports stores. Fans may also purchase the new jersey at the Rays’ 2010 Fan Fest this Saturday at Tropicana Field.

James Shields, Wade Davis, Jeff Niemann and Kelly Shoppach will visit two area Champs Sports stores Wednesday night to introduce the Rays’ new look.

Shields and Davis will be at the Champs Sports store at International Plaza in Tampa from 7-8 p.m. ET, while Niemann and Shoppach will be at the Champ Sports store at the Tyrone Mall in St. Petersburg at the same time.

Tampa Bay will now be one of 16 teams with four jerseys. In addition to the traditional home whites and road grays, the Rays will continue to wear a navy blue alternate for selected home and road day games.
