Rene Flowers, Janet Clark ahead in Pinellas School Board races

Former St. Petersburg City Council member Rene Flowers had an early but strong lead in the five-way battle for the vacant Pinellas County School Board District 7. Flowers, 47, was picking up 48 percent while the second top vote-getter was Glenton Gilzean Jr., 30, with 15 percent.

In the District 1 at-large race, incumbent board member Janet Clark, 58, was leading, with 35 percent of the early vote. Elliott Stern, 73, a retired businessman, had 25 percent.
