State Rep. Dane Eagle begins his House District 77 re-election campaign with a kickoff tonight.

The event will be at the Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery, 131 SW 3rd Pl., in Cape Coral, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Local entrepreneurs JoAnn and Bob Elardo are hosting the fundraiser for the Cape Coral Republican, joined by a group of more than 40 business and political leaders, including:

  • Rep. Gary Aubuchon of Cape Coral District 74
  • Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott
  • Former Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp
  • Lee County Commissioner Cecil  Pendergrass

Eagle served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. Charlie Crist at age 24, the youngest person in Florida history ever to serve in the role. He also became the Governor’s liaison to the Office of Tourism, Trade, & Economic Development, the Florida Housing and Finance Corporation, and the Department of Citrus.

Eagle has already attracted a GOP challenger for the August 2014 primary. Executive Jim Roach filed in September to run for the seat that includes the City of Cape Coral and some precincts in North Fort Myers.

Organizers request attendees to RSVP for the event by calling Terry Miller at (239) 980-2224 or at [email protected].
