Republican candidate Paul Renner announced on Wednesday the endorsement of term-limited State Rep. Daniel Davis, the man he hopes to succeed in Florida House District 15.

Renner faces Jay Fant in the Aug. 26 GOP primary for the district covering western Jacksonville and much of Duval County.

“Paul fought for America in Desert Storm and Afghanistan, and he fought crime as a state prosecutor,” Davis said. “He’s the proven, trusted leader we need fighting for us in Tallahassee.”

“It is an honor to receive State Representative Daniel Davis’ support of my campaign for the seat that he has represented so well on behalf of our community,” Renner responded. “Representative Davis has been a strong conservative leader for us in Tallahassee.

“Additionally, I will work closely with Daniel in his capacity as CEO of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce to bring new business and high-paying jobs to our region.”

In endorsing Renner, Davis joins a number of conservative leaders and organizations, including U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, State Sen, John Thrasher, Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford and Jacksonville business advocacy group JAXBIZ.

A Jacksonville native, Renner graduated from both Davidson College and the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. He is also a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, both in active duty and in the reserves. Renner was deployed during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and in Afghanistan in 2011.

Among his numerous military awards and recognitions are the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal.

Renner, an attorney, is a partner at Milam Howard Nicandri Dees and Gillam, and also served as President of the Jacksonville Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society. He also worked as General Counsel to the Duval County Republican Party, and as an assistant state attorney, earning a reputation for prosecuting serious felony offenses.
