In the race for the District 2 Pinellas County Commission seat, Republican state Representative Ed Hooper added $11,950 to his campaign fund during March, according to recent filings from the Florida Division of Elections. Hooper’s campaign has raised $110,790 so far, more than any of the three candidates running.
Serving his final term as representing House District 67, Hooper is technically challenging incumbent County Commissioner Norm Roche, who brought in just $4,030 last month. Roche gained attention for voting against restoring fluoride to the county’s drinking water in 2012. So far, Roche has $8,780 for his re-election campaign.
Largo Mayor and Democratic candidate Pat Gerard’s fundraising was nearly neck-and-neck with Rep. Hooper. She raised $10,050 last month, spent $4,775, and has raised $65,582 to date.
