Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen raised more than $108,000 for her re-election campaign during the month of February, while her possible opponent for a state Senate seat, Rep. Matt Caldwell, brought in $34,600, according to reports filed with the Florida Division of Elections.

Although the money raised by both candidates is for their House campaigns, Caldwell and Fitzenhagen are expected to run for the state Senate seat currently occupied by state Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto, who is running in the special election in Florida’s 19th Congressional District.

These February fundraising reports will be scrutizined by political observers interested in determining whether Caldwell or Fitzenhagen has the better shot at winning Benacquisto’s seat.
