This morning, Darden Rice picked up another important endorsement, this time from Democratic State Rep. Mark Danish of North Tampa.
“It is with great pride that I endorse Darden Rice for St. Pete City Council District 4. Darden Rice is a proven, effective leader who will work to make St. Pete Strong,” Danish says in a press release. “Her vision for St. Pete mirrors my vision for Florida. Darden has a real plan to grow jobs and provide efficient public services for the residents of St. Pete.”
Danish represents House District 63, which covers northeast Tampa and much of northern Hillsborough County. He won in 2012 on a grassroots campaign with union support similar to what Rice is getting in her run for the St. Petersburg District 4 seat.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Representative Danish,” says Rice. “As I believe all levels of government need to work together on smart job creation and practical transit that connects our businesses and communities”
In the latest polling, Rice leads both neurosurgeon and Tea Party activist Dr. David McKalip and Carolyn Fries in the race to succeed term-limited Leslie Curran. The District 4 primary is Aug. 27.
