Tampa Bay Times enterprise reporter Peter Jamison is the latest person to depart the St. Petersburg-based newspaper. He will be taking a position at the Los Angeles Times.
A California native, Jamison has been a general assignment writer for the Times since 2012, where he focuses on the criminal justice system.
Prior to his time in Florida, Jamisonโs bio says he worked at newspapers in San Francisco and New Hampshire. He will be starting at the Los Angeles Times in January.
Jamison announced his move in a series of tweets Tuesday afternoon:
Excited and honored to say that in Jan. I’ll be joining the @latimes, a fabulous newspaper and a founding institution of my home state.

it’s with mixed feelings that I leave behind talented and hardworking colleagues at the @TB_Times and a state that makes news like no other.
