Florida Republicans received a substantial fundraising (and morale) boost in the second quarter of 2014, with multi-million dollar hauls by way of various offshoot committees supporting Gov. Rick Scott.
In a press release on Friday, Republican Party of Florida officials announced taking in more than “$14.7 million in the second quarter of 2014, bringing the total raised this calendar year to over $31 million.”
Here’s the math, provided by James Rosica of the Tampa Tribune:
- $10.6 million donated to the Republican Party of Florida.
- $3.0 million taken in by the Rick Scott for Florida campaign account.
- $1.1 million raised by Scott’s associated committee Let’s Get To Work.
“Our strong fundraising results in April, May and June show that support for Governor Scott and his vision for Florida is growing,” according to a statement by Republican Party of Florida Chair Leslie Dougher.
“We look forward to showing Floridians the difference between Charlie Crist’s record of higher taxes, skyrocketing debt and 800,000 jobs lost and Rick Scott’s record of lower taxes, reduced debt and nearly 600,000 private-sector jobs created.”
