Rest in peace: Longtime Florida Senate staffer Renai Farmer passes away suddenly

On Friday evening, the Florida Senate suffered the sudden loss of Renai Farmer, who had served as Staff Director in the Senate Minority Office and the Senate Children, Families and Elder Affairs Committee.

Senate President Mike Haridopolos and Democratic Leader Nan Rich issued the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of one of our own. Renai was a truly devoted and loyal member of the Florida Senate – an institution she not only loved but served well for many years. She will be greatly missed.

“On behalf of myself, Senator Rich, and the entire Senate family, our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Renai Farmer is survived by her mom, Mrs. Earlene Farmer of West Chester, Ohio; her sister, Aarione Farmer; and fiancé, George Bowan of Tallahassee. The funeral service will be held in Ohio on Saturday.
