Rick Kriseman hosting Independence Day Weekend cookout, canvassing event

Rick Kriseman kicks off the four-day July Fourth holiday weekend with a round of canvassing Saturday morning, followed by a cookout in downtown St. Petersburg.

The first-term incumbent St. Pete Mayor is running for re-election, facing his main opponent โ€“ former two-term Mayor Rick Baker โ€“ as well as Anthony Cates III, Jesse Nevel, Paul Congemi, Theresa โ€œMomma Teeโ€ Lassiter and Ernisa Barnwell.

Volunteers will be canvassing neighborhoods earlier Saturday morning, after which they will meet up for a cookout starting noon at the Kriseman for Mayor office, 833 22nd St. South in St. Petersburg.

According to a campaign statement, Kriseman will be on hand to meet supporters and talk about his vision to โ€œmove St. Petersburg forward.โ€
