Florida Gov. Rick Scott is the keynote speaker at the Fourth Annual “Ronald Reagan Blue Jeans and Black Tie Affair” tonight hosted by the Wakulla County Republican Party.
Both the public and the press invited to the slightly-less-than-formal event, which celebrates Ronald Regan’s legacy as a laid-back, Western-themed statesman. The popular BBQ event asks attendees, usually conservatives, to arrive wearing their “best blue jeans.”
The BBQ begins 7:30 p.m. at the Wakulla Springs Lodge, 550 Wakulla Park Dr.
Last year, Scott spoke at a similar event sponsored by Alachua County Republicans, which drew between 500 and 600 people.
“These elections matter. What you do matters,” Scott told the crowd. “If we get out the vote, we’re going to win.”
Prior to Monday’s speech, Scott will be available at 7 p.m. for a meet and greet for attendees of a VIP Reception. They get the opportunity to shake hands and take photos with the governor.
Tickets include barbeque and a cash bar. Live entertainment is by Gypsy Darlings and the Full Moon Bandits. There will also be a silent auction, with Reagan memorabilia and pieces of the Berlin Wall.
Prices start at $50 per person and $25 per person for the VIP Reception. Tickets for couples attending both the dinner and reception are $125, saving $25.
Seating is limited, and organizers recommend advance purchases. Tickets are available at www.WakullaGOP.com, or by calling (850) 926-4402.
