Rick Scott ‘workday’ at Tampa International Airport today

Gov. Rick Scott has announced he’ll spend a “Let’s Get to Work Day” at the Tampa airport tomorrow—at the same time President Barack Obama is making a speech on foreign trade at the Port of Tampa.

Governor’s Office spokesman Lane Wright said it was a coincidence that the event is on the same day as Obama’s visit. He said the airport workday was planned several weeks ago, while Obama’s visit was announced only a few days ago.

Scott’s purpose, according to an announcement from the Governor’s Office, is “to demonstrate the economic impact of Florida’s airports to tourism and international trade.”

According to his schedule, Scott will start the day with a media availability at the JetBlue ticket counter, then work at the Airport Communications Center, then hit the Southwest ticket counter, and finally work as Airport skycap. He’ll close the day with another media availability.

Scott’s workday extends from about 10 a.m. until 4:40 p.m., while Obama’s appearance at the port will be early afternoon.
