Ron DeSantis raises $227K for new 6th Congressional district in northeast Florida

Republican Ron DeSantis said he raised $227,000 in the first three months of the year in his bid to win the new 6th Congressional district in northeast Florida, reports the News Service of Florida. DeSantis, 33, and a political newcomer, was a Navy lawyer, and won the Bronze Star working with a SEAL team in Iraq. He lives in Ponte Vedra Beach. Republicans Craig Miller and Beverly Slough, Richard Clark and Bill Kogut are in the race, with state Rep. Fred Costello also mentioned as a possible candidate, though he hasn’t opened a campaign account. Democrat Heather Beaven also is seeking the newly-drawn seat.
