In House District 59, Ross Spano outraised all of his Republican primary opponents combined during the latest fundraising period, which ended on July 6.
Not only did the Brandon business owner and first-time candidate best his opponents by $19,100, he also had 28 more contributors than all three opponents combined.
Spano raised $51,695 during Q2, while Joe Wicker brought in $19,330 and Betty Jo Tompkins collected $10,525. This was Spano’s and Tompkin’s first full quarter of fundraising, while Wicker’s now brought in $46,279 overall.
Still, looking at these fundraising numbers, one has to wonder, is Joe Wicker — previously considered the front-runner in this race after switching seats to run in District 59 — in trouble?
