Rubio: 'Biden is the best thing we've got going'

Campaigning for Mitt Romney in Denver Wednesday, Senator Marco Rubio  seized on a gaffe by Vice President Biden, who remarked Tuesday that America’s middle class had “been buried in the last four years.”

“What’s happened to the American middle class? Well, over the last four years the American middle class has been buried,” Rubio said at the National Western Complex in Denver.

When the crowd booed at the mention of Biden, Rubio stopped them. “Don’t boo. He’s the best thing we’ve got going,” the Florida Republican said.

Rubio then jokingly praised the vice president’s “brief moment of clarity,” telling the crowd Biden “told us what we already knew.”

Speaking in Denver just hours before President Obama and Romney are set to face-off there tonight, Rubio said he was looking forward to this evening’s debate.

“Here’s the thing we have to fight against, and I can’t wait for tonight’s debate to start taking that fight to them. Big government doesn’t help the middle class.  It buries the middle class,” Rubio said, referencing Biden’s comments for a second time.

“This election is not just a choice between a Republican and a Democrat,” Rubio said. “It’s a referendum on our identity as a nation.”
