Rubio steps on his endorsement of Romney

One day after endorsing Mitt Romney for president, Marco Rubio canceled out any good will he may have shown the GOP front-runner by saying he wished others had run for president.

“There are a lot of other people out there that some of us wish had run for president — but they didn’t,” Rubio told in an interview. “I think Mitt Romney would be a fine president, and he’d be way better than the guy who’s there right now.”

The interview followed Rubio’s rather tepid endorsement of the candidate on FOX News’ “Hannity” show Wednesday night.

“I am going to endorse Mitt Romney,” the freshman senator told host Sean Hannity. “Not only is he going to be the Republican nominee, but he offers a stark contrast to this president’s record.”
