Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is the featured player in a blistering anti-Charlie Crist spot from the Republican Party of Florida.
It is about as far from an endorsement as one can get.
“Rudy” is the newest Republican attack ad in the Florida gubernatorial race, set for statewide release today. The 30-second spot has the former 2008 Republican presidential candidate speaking about Crist last week.
The tone is far from complimentary.
“I have met a lot of people in politics,” Giuliani says, “I’ve met a lot of good people and a lot of bad people … I’ve met people in politics that are wonderful … that are okay … and people in politics that I don’t like.”
“I’ve never met anyone in politics that I disrespect more than Charlie Crist.”
“Yep, you heard him,” the narrator concludes. Then, with a voice dripping with disgust, she says, “Charlie Crist.”
Giuliani was also in Miami on Monday campaigning for incumbent Gov. Rick Scott.
Apparently, the former mayor still holds a grudge, suggests Adam Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, over a promised endorsement in the 2008 presidential race from Crist, before he announced supporting John McCain just ahead of the Florida primary.
“Rudy” is now available on YouTube.
