You are invited to watch as Mayor Bill Foster lends a hand to a collaborative mural project designed to brighten the walls of Pinellas Safe Harbor on Friday, April 20. Mayor Foster will work alongside project artist Pamela Miles and Safe Harbor apprentice artists during the 1:30 p.m. painting session. Miles and her apprentice artists began painting on April 9. Mayor Foster, Miles and Safe Harbor resident artists will be available for interviews.
The finished project, which Miles and resident artists have been working on since April 9, will leave murals inside shelter living spaces and the main hallway. A collaboration between the city’s Arts and International Relations and Veterans, Social and Homeless Services departments, the mural project is believed to be among the first in the country to encourage shelter residents to share life experiences through art and learn positive choices as they transition toward stability.
