Pro-Jack Latvala political committee to hold luncheon Sept. 1

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

State Sen. Jack LatvalaĀ will hold aĀ fundraiser luncheon co-sponsored by several current and former Pinellas politiciansĀ in St. Petersburg on Sept. 1.

The list features two dozen co-chairs, including current state Reps. Larry Ahern,Ā Kathleen Peters, Chris Sprowls and state Sen. Latvala’s son, freshman Rep. ChrisĀ Latvala. Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano will also be in attendance.

Latvala has his sights set on becoming the next Senate president and his committee,Ā Florida Leadership Committee, is the primary funding source the veteranĀ lawmaker has to achieve that goal.

Latvala just slightly trails his rival for the presidency, state Sen. Joe Negron, in both pledgesĀ and cash on-hand. July fundraising numbers show FLC with about $1.1 million on hand compared to about $1.2 million for Negron’s committee, Treasure CoastĀ Alliance.

The FLC fundraiser is planned for noon at the Hilton Carillon Park, with invitationsĀ set to go out next week.

A $200 donation reserves a seat at the event, while a table isĀ priced at $2,000. Higher contribution tiers – the ā€œGold Sponsorshipā€ and ā€œCentennialĀ Sponsorshipā€ – are set at $5,000 and $10,000, respectively.
