Gov. Rick Scott appointed Bridgette Mill today to the board of trustees of the St. Petersburg College District.

Mill, a 42-year-old Seminole resident, is president and publisher of the Tampa Bay Business Journal. She has also served as a member of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Association and on the University of Tampa Board of Fellows.

Mill also works as a publisher for the American City Business Journals, a position she held since 1999. Before being named publisher of the Business Journal in 2007, she was their Director of Advertising.

“I’m so excited,” Mill said on Twitter this afternoon. “I look forward to making a difference for our community, our future and my kids.”

Mill’s appointment fills the last remaining seat on the St. Petersburg College board, a post which has been vacant since 2012. Her term begins today and ends May 31, 2015 and is subject to approval by the Florida Senate.
