Scott reappoints several agency heads after Senate fails to confirm

A number of agency heads who were snubbed by the Senate during the 2012 session have been reappointed, reports Christine Jordan Sexton.

Gov. Rick Scott has sent letters to Secretary of State Kenneth DetznerSecretary of Corrections Kenneth TuckerOffice of Early Learning Director Melody Jurado  andAgency for Persons with Disabilities Director Mike Hansen asking them to continue to serve in his administration.

“Your reappointment is evidence of my utmost confidence in your ability to serve with excellence and distinction,” Scott wrote in a generic letters that were sent to the secretaries March 21.

Jackie Schutz, a spokesperson Scott said the intent is to reappoint all the secretaries, director and executive directors who weren’t confirmed.  Executive Director of the Department of Veterans Mike Prendergast and Secretary of Elder Affairs Thomas Corley also were not confirmed by the 2012 Senate.
