Scott Sturgill to hold District 30 campaign kickoff event Aug. 27

Supporters of Scott Sturgill are hosting a kickoff fundraising reception in his bid for Florida State House District 30.

The event will begin 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 the Heathrow Country Club.

Sturgill, CEO of Durable Safety Products and elected to Seminole County Soil & Water Conservation District, is running against Longwood City Commissioner Robert Cortes in the Republican primary. The winner goes on to the general election against incumbent Democratic Rep. Karen Castor Dentel.  District 3 covers much of Seminole and Orange Counties.

More than 25 local politicians and community leaders will chair the reception, including:  

  • Longwood District 4 Commissioner Butch Bundy
  • Longwood District 2 Commissioner Joe Durso  
  • Winter Garden District 3 Commissioner Robert Olszewski   
  • Brevard and Seminole County Public Defender Blaise Trettis

Sturgill is a fourth-generation Floridian from Seminole County. According to his website, he will focus on removing government barriers to job creation, economic growth, cutting government spending, improving healthcare, eliminating pill mills and running local and state governments with a “business mentality.”

The Heathrow Country Club is at 1200 Bridgewater Drive in Heathrow.
