The Florida Senate Education Committee had not expected to meet any more this session. The bills that were in play were, in theory anyway, already heard.
But the Florida House has strong feelings about a bill that would overhaul the way high school sports are governed.
“We know it’s important to the House and several other individuals,” committee chairman Sen. John Legg told the Gradebook. “So we wanted to hear the debate. We’re not afraid of the debate.”
Legg did not predict passage in committee of the bill, which is on the floor of the House, when his panel reconvenes Monday.
“I have extreme reservations and concerns about the FHSAA bill,” he said.
