To quote LL Cool J, don’t call it a comeback.
Don’t call the signing of several high-profile lobbying clients by Slater Bayliss and the rest of the team at The Advocacy Group at Cardenas Partners a comeback, because Slater and Co. were never on the mat, no matter what certain bloggers may have implied.
Sure, sure, they recently lost the contract to represent Pasco County, but, according to the lobbying registration directory, Bayliss, Sarah Busk, Al Cardenas, Justin Day and Stephen Shiver have inked contracts this month with Hilton Worldwide, Inc., and the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops. Perhaps more important, the firm won out in competitive bid processes for the right to represent both Tampa International Airport and the Tampa Port Authority. Those last two signings indicate Cardenas Partners has established more than just a beachhead in the increasingly lucrative Tampa Bay market.
Mark this all up as good things happening to good people.
