Some additions, some subtractions in “revolving door” lobbying bill

On Tuesday, the State Affairs Committee approved an amendment to HB 7131 to bar all legislators, not just former House Speakers and Senate Presidents, from lobbying state agencies for two years after leaving office — but also removed a measure in the original bill which would prevent lawmakers from taking jobs with firms that lobby that lobby the legislature during this time.

The unanimous approval of these changes brings the House bill in line with its Senate companion, SB 2, which has already cleared the chamber and is in messages to the House.
