It looks like elections are becoming a Latimer family business in the Tampa Bay area. Jason Latimer, son of Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer, is taking over communications in the Pinellas County Supervisor’s office.
Before signing on to head the Communications department for Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark, the younger Latimer was an intern in the Tampa Bay Rays communications office. He then worked six years with the New York Yankees where he was promoted to Assistant Director of Player and Media Relations. He was with the baseball organization when it won its 27th World Series title in 2007. Most recently he served as the Director of External Communications for the Florida Gators football team.
Latimer will replace current communications director Nancy Whitlock. Whitlock resigned from her post to move to Texas with her husband where their son will be attending college. Whitlock will stay on board with the department through the election until November 7.
