St. Petersburg celebrates the luck of the Irish, by holding two street parties on Monday to honor St. Patrick’s Day.
Traffic will be heavier than usual downtown as an expected 500 revelers attend one event hosted by Courigan’s Irish Pub, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday. Beach Drive between Central Ave. and First St. SE will be closed to traffic.
Also on Monday from noon to 11 p.m., as many as 750 partygoers will be at the St. Paddy’s Day block party sponsored by One Night Stand and Mike’s Pizza & Sip. For that event, First Ave. N. between First and Second Streets will close to traffic.
On Saturday, March 22, the Saturday Morning Market will relocate from the parking lot of Al Lang Field, to Central Avenue between First and Thirds Streets, as St. Petersburg prepares for the Firestone Grand Prix.
Market goers will still experience fresh and organic produce, flowers, colorful crafts and live music from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Central Ave. location. The Market will be closed on Saturday, March 29, for the Verizon IndyCar event and will reopen at its regular Al Lang Stadium site April 5 at 9 a.m.
