It is certainly true that the young are our future.

For the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, they also recognize the next generation of community leaders is the key to the city’s future success.

To help develop young professionals to become active and engaged in the community, the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce is holding an Executive and Planning Committee Information Session of the St. Pete Young Professionals (SPYP). It is the beginning of  a new leadership and mentoring series that will roll out in full in January 2014.

The event is Monday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber Board Room, 100 Second Avenue N. Suite 150.

According to the Chamber’s statement, the committee will work to “give everyone an opportunity to get involved in a leadership role we have changed the executive structure of our group. Join us as we explain the new structure and the guidelines for applying for a leadership role. This group affords everyone interested an opportunity to step-up.”

The foundation of the SPYP is in ACE — Attract. Connect. Engage.

  • Attract and identify the next generation of community leaders.
  • Connect young professionals with the surrounding community through unique opportunities in the areas of service, leadership and advocacy.
  • Engage young professionals in local corporate, community, and cultural settings.

The Chamber is calling on all interested parties to attend the event, to learn how to be a driving force for St. Pete’s economic development.
