St. Pete ended its fiscal year with a $1.428 million surplus. Itโs the second year in a row the city has closed its books in the black.
โOne of the ways we are keeping the promise of our vision to the citizens of St. Petersburg is through stewardship and fiscal responsibility,โ Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin said. โThough the city budget will always reflect the vision and values of the [Rick] Kriseman Administration, it is also important to budget in fiscally responsible ways. This is why the mayor and I worked closely with City Council members on their priorities, but also put $1 million in the Economic Stability Fund for FY 15, and an additional $500,000 for FY 16.โ
The closing numbers for fiscal year 2015 reflect all revenues and expenditures through October 31.
โI thank Mayor Kriseman for his leadership, the city budget staff, and City Council for continuing to serve well the taxpayers of the Sunshine City,โ Tomalin said.
The 2016 fiscal year began at the beginning of this month.
