State Attorney Bernie McCabe announced his support for Chris Sprowls, the Republican candidate for House District 65, this morning.

Sprowls is running in District 65, which includes the communities of Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and East Lake.

Pinellas County’s two top law enforcement officials have now endorsed Sprowls in his bid for the House, State Attorney Bernie McCabe and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.

“Chris Sprowls is the kind of leader that Pinellas County needs.” Said McCabe, “He is a fierce advocate, has a common sense approach to solving problems, and has a deep understanding of what it is our community needs to be safe, secure, and prosperous.”

Chris Sprowls is prosecutor for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, which encompasses Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Sprowls most recently played a role in the prosecution of William Hurst who was charged with the 1st Degree Murder of his wife Amy back in 1982. After the case remained cold for 30 years, Hurst was found guilty by a jury this month and sentenced to life in prison.

McCabe cited Sprowls’ work as a prosecutor in his endorsement. “From the moment Chris Sprowls came to work for me he has labored tirelessly for victims and their families to ensure that justice is served. Chris’s commitment to programs like drug court and veterans mediation units demonstrates that he is more than just a tough prosecutor he is a compassionate problem solver who seeks to break cycles of addiction, and protect
our most vulnerable population. I am proud to support Chris in his candidacy for the Florida House and I ask you to join me in ensuring that we send Chris from the courtroom to the capital.”
