State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister endorses fellow conservative Mary Thomas for Congress

Republican Jeff Siegmeister, state attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit, today endorsed fellow conservative Mary Thomas in her bid for Florida’s 2nd Congressional District.

Calling her campaign “historic,” Siegmeister said Thomas would bring “much-needed vibrancy” to Capitol Hill and “help return the country to greatness.”

Thomas, who like Siegmeister is a member of the Federalist Society of conservative attorneys, would be the first Indian-American woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress. Siegmeister, also a strong supporter of U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, has served as a defense attorney and prosecutor, and is a skilled appellate advocate in state court with over 150 jury trials and motion practices.

“Mr. Siegmeister has a record of conservative leadership and represents North Florida well,” Thomas said in a statement. “I thank him for his trust in me to carry my conservative leadership to Washington to truly represent the family values of our area.”

Thomas added that if sent to Congress, she would seek a seat on the Judiciary Committee to fight to rein in what she says is an “out of control judiciary.”  She also vows to work to “fully repeal Obamacare, stop illegal immigration and enforce America’s laws and sovereignty,” defending the Constitution “as the Founders intended it.”

In the GOP primary, Thomas faces Panama City urologist Neal Dunn for the North Florida congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham.
