Both Democrat and Republican state parties continue to benefit from millions of dollars from the campaign committees of incumbent Gov. Rick Scott and former Gov. Charlie Crist.
For example, “Charlie Crist for Florida,” which raised $1,264,700 from Oct. 11-17, sent another $3.5 million to the Florida Democratic Party, according to newly filed finance reports. At the same time, Scott’s “Let’s Get to Work” committee received $1,585,000, and also contributed $2.1 million to the Republican Party of Florida.
The money goes for get-out-the-vote efforts.
Reports show that the Crist committee now raised $26,715,356 overall and spent $3,888,153 during a weeklong period, for total expenditures of $24,673,158 through Oct. 17.
Most of the money “Work” raised in the weeklong reporting period — $1.5 million — came from the Republican Governors Association. Its total now stands at $43,309,277. The committee spent $2,696,662 in the week, with expenditures totaling $42,663,592.
