State Rep. Jim Boyd, chair of the House State Affairs Committee, announced his endorsement of Republican House District 31 hopeful Terri Seefeldt.

Seefeldt, committee member of the Orange County Republican Executive Committee, is looking to replace term limited Rep. Bryan Nelson in the conservative seat covering parts of Lake and Orange Counties and includes Eustis, Tavares, Umatilla, Mt. Dora and Apopka.

“I have known Terri for years, and she has a reputation as a respected insurance expert here in Florida.  I’m confident she’ll make a great addition to the House,” Boyd said in a statement.  “At a time like this when so many Florida citizens have questions about insurance, there’s no better fit in District 31.”

Since 2012, Boyd has represented House District 71, which includes eastern Manatee County and eastern Sarasota County.

“I am very humbled to receive Rep. Boyd’s endorsement,” Seefeldt responded.  “He has shown great leadership throughout his tenure in the Florida House, leading the charge on complex and difficult issues such as state retirement and pension reform and I have a great deal of respect for him.”

The Republican primary is August 26.
