Jacksonville attorney Paul Renner received a significant GOP endorsement today from State Senator John Thrasher in his bid for House District 15 seat.

Renner is running to replace Republican Rep. Daniel Davis in the area that covers much of Duval County. Thrasher has become the latest in a succession of conservative leaders coming out in support of the Republican candidate, including Duval County Sheriff John Rutherford.

Renner is a former South Florida state attorney who served in the Navy during Desert Storm. During his stint in Afghanistan, Renner earned the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

“I am proud to offer my endorsement to Paul Renner today in his campaign for the Florida House. I admire his service to our country and our community, and I am confident he will make an exemplary member of the Florida Legislature,” Thrasher said. “Paul’s conservative values coupled with his background in law will make him a talented, thoughtful leader that will serve the residents of Jacksonville well.”

Currently, Renner is a partner at the law firm Milam, Howard, Nicandri, Dees and Gillam, serving as President of the Jacksonville Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society as well as General Counsel to the Duval County Republican Party.

“I am humbled by the support of Senator Thrasher and hope to have the opportunity to follow his great example of leadership and public service to help our community,” Renner said. “I will stand up for the same common sense, conservative policies that he has made a cornerstone of his service.”

Renner has a history of working on conservative issues. He was involved in the 2010 attempt to overcome the “Fair District” redistricting amendments to the Florida Constitution. He also worked on John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.
