Incoming House Speaker Will Weatherford further fleshed out his leadership team on Wednesday, naming Steve Precourt as House majority leader and Dana Young as majority whip.

Precourt is serving his final term; he served as chairman of the House Finance and Tax Committee last session and was vice chair of the House Redistricting Committee, which was chaired by Weatherford. “Steve’s depth of experience in the public and private sector makes him uniquely qualified to serve as the lead advocate for the Florida House Majority Caucus,” Weatherford said.

Young was named a deputy whip last year; she will also serve as deputy majority leader, Weatherford said. “During her service in the Florida House, she has earned her colleagues’ respect, and I know she will continue to play an integral role in the House’s future success,” he said.
