After the final Saturday of early voting, Steve Schale, in his latest update memo, notes that Democrats have cut the GOP advantage to 4.2 percent.
That is from down from 4.9 percent going into the weekend and 12.7 percent on the equivalent day in the 2010 gubernatorial race.
GOP advantage is now down to just 125K raw votes; it was 275K in 2010, when Rick Scott won by only 61,500 votes, or just over a single point.
With more than 3 million people voting so far, Schale believes that the election turnout could reach least 6 million people, higher his initial estimates.
Black turnout (both African-American and Caribbean) is more than double that of 2010, now at 11.3 percent of all voters. Also, the gender gap is another notable trend: 55 percent of voters at this point are women. In 2012, women voters were key to helping President Obama win a second term, so high female participation is a good sign for Democrats.
Twelve counties continued early voting on Sunday: Bradford, Broward, Charlotte, Duval, Hillsborough, Dade, Orange, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Seminole, St Lucie and Suwannee.
