Despite drawing no challenge, Pinellas Clerk Ken Burke has best fundraising month of campaign

Pinellas County Clerk of Court Ken Burke more than doubled his campaign fundraising total this November, raising approximately $8,535 in donations for the month. According to the latest supervisor of elections figures, Burke has now hauled in nearly $15,500 for his re-election bid. Not a bad sum, considering the 55-year-old Seminole Republican has yet to draw a challenger. For the first time this year, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz leads in Iowa among Republican caucusgoers, according to a new Monmouth University poll released Monday. The Texas Senator gets 24 percent among Iowans likely to participate in that state’s Iowa caucus scheduled for February. Since filing to run for re-election in early May, Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long has raised exactly $16,808 in campaign contributions. That’s according to the last three months of published campaign finance reports on the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections’ website.
