Gov. Scott names Tampa’s Christopher Nash and Mark Kiser to Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott named two Tampa legal experts to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court, which serves Hillsborough County. Judge Christopher Nash, 43, of Tampa, currently serves as Hillsborough county judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. He practiced with Leavengood, Nash, Dauval & Boyle from 2004-2013. Before that, he worked with Akerman Senterfitt from 2000-2004. Nash received his bachelor’s, master’s, and law degrees from the University of Florida. Dan Gelber the Legislator vs. Dan Gelber the Candidate

in Statewide by

Dan Gelber is everything a progressive Democrat could want in a candidate.  Ideologically, Senator Gelber has a proven track record of fighting for causes important to both liberal and moderate wings of the party.  Personally, the man is simply impressive, with a distinguished resume and a dignified, but welcoming disposition that just radiates a sense of gravitas. I had the opportunity to speak with Senator Gelber last Thursday when he was in St. Petersburg and I immediately remembered why we…

Dan Gelber says he quit law firm ‘last Thursday’ so why is resignation letter effective in ‘early July’?

in Statewide by

Dave Aronberg scores major political victory as Dan Gelber resigns from law firm representing BP

in Statewide by

Would it surprise anyone if the Dave Aronberg vs. Dan Gelber primary ended up being decided by a few thousand, maybe even a few hundred votes?  In such a razor-close race, any advantage either candidate can leverage may make all the difference. Dave Aronberg may be handed such an advantage by a story that has been developing today (which, yes, I did have a role in promoting) that Dan Gelber’s position with Akerman, Senterfitt would represent a major conflict of…

A few words about my friends

in Peter by

When I first started blogging, way back in 2005, Saint Petersblog was the home of many wonderful tales from my adventurous weekends. Five years later, I’ve, fortunately or unfortunately as the case may be, de-personalized this blog more than I would have liked to. So please give me a moment to say a few words about some of my friends – in politics and far from them… I owe a long overdue congratulations to Dr. Mark Adamiak, my best friend,…
