Alex Faedo pitched three-hit ball for 7 1/3 shutout innings in a second straight strong performance against TCU, and Florida moved to the College World Series finals with a 3-0 win Saturday night. No. 3 national seed Florida (50-19) will play Southeastern Conference rival LSU in the best-of-three finals beginning Monday night. The Florida Gators used strong pitching from Alex Faedo and a couple of timely hits to defeat the TCU Horned Frogs 3-0 Sunday in the College World Series. The win is a much better start in Omaha for Florida than last year when they lost both games and went home early. Faedo was drafted in the first round by the Detroit Tigers in the recent MLB Draft. From there, Florida could use their pitching depth to get to the championship round. With days off in between, the major league-caliber arms of Logan Shore, A.J.…

Many expected the College World Series, which opens Saturday, would be populated by multiple teams from the SEC and ACC. The two conferences earned six of the top eight national seeds, led by number one seed Florida. Louisville was number two and Miami earned the third seed. Only the Gators and Hurricanes made it to Omaha. Texas Tech, at No. 5, is the only other national seed to make the final eight. Both are making their second straight appearance in…

FSU set to face outstanding Gator pitching trio

The Florida State baseball team knows they have a tough mountain to climb this weekend. To get to their first College World Series since 2012, all they have to do is beat the top national seed Florida Gators twice in Gainesville. It has been well documented that the Seminoles are having trouble beating their arch-rival anywhere over the past three seasons. The Gators have prevailed 13 of the last 17 times they have met in either Gainesville, Tallahassee or Jacksonville.…
