Lisa Wheeler-Brown topples Will Newton in contentious St. Pete City Council race

Lisa Wheeler-Brown is heading to St. Petersburg City Council to represent residents in District 7. In what was expected to be a close race, Wheeler-Brown walked away with a whopping 58 percent of the vote compared with Will Newton’s 42 percent. Campaign mailers play nice, but real City Council race is anything but

At least two positive mailers have hit voters mailboxes this week. One, paid for by the Orlando-based group, Council for Stronger Neighborhoods, highlights City Council candidate Will Newton as a “career hero” having spent 23 years as a firefighter and EMT. PSTA plans to have buses removed from Williams Park by Valentine’s Day

Pinellas transit officials are looking into shifting bus stops away from downtown St. Pete’s Williams Park onto various other stops across the area. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority CEO Brad Miller explained the plan during a City Council meeting Thursday morning. Bar in Grand Central is latest Nuisance Abatement target

There’s a new offender on the St. Pete Nuisance Abatement radar. City Council member Amy Foster posted on Facebook Thursday night that a Something Different employee was arrested on narcotics charges as a result of activity in the Central Avenue bar between 24th and 25th Street.
